The man was shot before 4:12 a.m. on Thursday while walking on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard between Elm Street and Maple Street in New Haven, police said. He was brought to Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said, and reportedly heard a nearby verbal argument, then gunfire.
The victim is in stable condition, police said.
The three streets have since been reopened after New Haven Police held a crime scene investigation.
